“Salgu” means “apricot” in Korean. Salgu (the artist) grew up in Korea and moved to Seattle then Los Angeles before settling in DC! Apricot is her favorite color to use in her drawing and painting.

Salgu likes to capture memories by drawing places that she’s visited. The creative process helps her discover new details, which emerge on her return. This way, even old places remain dynamic and alive.

Salgu’s journey began with drawing and painting cards by hand to pass the time indoors during 2020. She shipped the finished products off to brighten lonely days for her friends and family. During this time, she fell in love with creating and when it was suggested that she consider selling her work, well, she did.
